"I ve been at the same GP Practice for well over 50 years and nearly all that time i have nt been in the catchment area. I ve admired all 3 doctors that were my GP over that time . I can understand that years ago GPs made lots of home visits so it was probably good if you lived local to the surgery . Nowadays we visit the surgery and i definatly have nt had a home visit for many many years.
My husband and I were absolutly gutted when our GP informed us that she was taking us off her books due to our housemove and being out of her area. ( My husband h as been a patient since we married over 38 years ago )
This has caused me a lot of upset as im not a confident person and the thought of registering with another GP causes me a lot of stress.
Over the years i ve felt comfortable with my GP , Nurses and Recetion Staff. I find them all to be polite , patient and caring, and i feel this always put me at ease when visiting the surgery. The thought of moving to another surgery makes me really sad after all these years . I ve even thought about not registering elsewhere but to use the local pharmacies for advice or to go to a walk in centre if needed .I have to be sensible though as im on medication for an underactive thyroid , so i ve looked online to buy this , but because of the price of them , i ll only be able to do that for the first few months but that will give me longer to find the right GP.
