"I am presently much less satisfied with the surgery and the services it provides than was once the case. I feel that since the surgery adopted the present modus operandi, it has become impersonal and remote, whereas previously there was a much more personal touch. This relates to when we for many years could identify with one doctor with whom a rapport develops and you have confidence that the Doctor is familiar with not just your medical or clinical needs, but also knows you as a person enabling more personal matters to be discussed as needed. Today it feels more like a business. The staff faces seem to change and come and go, when previously the same faces remained with little change and you got to know them. I have no complaints about any individuals at the surgery, whether GP's, practice nurses or the staff, all of whom remain pleasant, polite and obliging. So it is not the personnel, but the system that I dislike. Getting appointments has become a real issue and specifying a particular doctor is a virtual no no. So one resorts to having to use the Emergency Appointment service, which is quite good, except that it is like a game of lotto as to who you are likely to end up with, which often means you have to start from scratch each time. I use the 'Patient Access' to reorder my prescriptions and that is usually OK, but to book an appointment on it is a joke. Weeks and weeks ahead and limited often to one doctor. I have a couple of personal grievances, about which I shall write to the surgery. By the way this is my second attempt to access this review process and first time I pressed submit, was advised I would receive a check email and this never happened and my review comments vanished into the ether. This is the first time in over a quarter of a century that I have had cause to register these concerns but I can only honestly express how I feel about the deterioration in the standards to which surgery users had become accustomed over many years."
