"You recently updated your telephone system to improve waiting time but I am disappointed to say that on the three occasions I have telephoned early morning to book an on the day appointment only to be on hold for over 30 minutes, the last call being yesterday where I phoned at 9.02am and eventually spoke to someone at 9.38am. I do not believe being on hold for 36 minutes is an improved service and many patients if working would not be able to be on their phone for that length of time.

Routine appointments are just as difficult to book as you have to phone a week before the day you wish book ie phone on Friday for the following Friday but once again you are then on hold for ages. There never seems to be any appointments that you can book in advance, why is this? Lucky I very rarely need to see a doctor or nurse, the three appointments required were for my teenage daughter and were over a period of 3 months, but when I do need too it is a stressful procedure and not recommended."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
