"I have always been extremely grateful that I am a patient at this practice as their service is second to none. Guaranteed to see a Dr when you need to see them as they operate a 'drop in, no appointment' service that works fantastically well. Seen in order of arrival I have still found that the wait to see the Dr is a lot less than when I've actually had a timed appointment at another surgery.
Being a small surgery with only 3 Dr's means continuity of care, they are immediately aware of your situation, of past treatments and are in the optimum position to provide treatment and care going forward. The receptionists and nurses are all friendly, approachable and helpful. This is a surgery where every single member of staff work as a team, all to ensure the care and benefit of the patients.
So, I have always been a 'fan' of this practice! However even I was amazed at the exemplary service I received from them all last Friday. I had had my bloods taken to ascertain my INR levels after having to adjust them for surgery. I was then contacted by the 'blood clinic' to advise to carry on with my clexane injections over the weekend and Monday and to get my bloods taken again on the Monday, dependant on what my INR result was I may possibly need to carry on with the clexane injections. I told them that I didn't have any more injections as the hospital had only provided me with enough for the week and was told to ask my Dr's to give me a prescription.
This left me in the position of contacting my GP surgery on a Friday afternoon to ask for a prescription that I would need fulfilling immediately oh, and also could I have an appointment to see the nurse to have more bloods taken on Monday! The receptionist informed me that she would personally speak to the Dr to advise of the urgency and would get the prescription raised for me. She also advised to contact the pharmacy to advise them of the impending prescription in case they didn't have any of them in stock so that they would be able to order them in urgently. Then I was given an appt to see the nurse on the Monday.
I contacted the pharmacy and was informed that they didn't have any in stock but would order them in so that they would be available for me first thing in the morning. 40 minutes after I had telephoned my Dr's surgery I received a call to say that my prescription was now with the pharmacy! 30 minutes later I received a call from the pharmacy to inform me that they had been unable to order any for me as their supplier's were also out of stock but that they had been telephoning all the other pharmacies in the area (not their own branches) and had eventually managed to track some down for me at a pharmacy in Chipping Sodbury. 90 mins after contacting my GP Surgery I had not only the appt but had the injections in my possession!
This is the NHS running as it should be done! With everyone working as a team and playing their part. We need more surgery's like Wellington Road!"
