"The appointment was on the 22nd October 9:30 am. I arrived ahead of time at 9:10 am and was admitted earlier than my appointment, which is a good thing. During the entire consultation, the doctor appeared distracted, inattentive and continually gave the impression that he wanted to end the session.
I started with the minor issues I had, which were continued blocked sinuses and headache. He did not suggest any medication, until I proposed maybe I take a nasal spray or some congestion relief, until which he agreed I should take a nasal spray.
When I got to discuss the major problem I was there for, he said that it would have been better to start off with that because he did not have time, bearing in mind that it had not gotten to 9:30 yet. I barely started talking about my anxiety issues and the panic attacks Iâve experienced to which he was dismissive and gave me a phone number to contact for an appointment for cognitive behavioural therapy. I understand that this is the right action to take as a GP and not being a psychologist/psychiatrist himself, but all I am referring to is his continuous dismissive attitude and lack of patience he displayed during our appointment.
To conclude the appointment, he cut me off by saying he did not have more time and heâs busy and ended the session. The time then was 9:30 am, which was when my appointment was meant to begin. I understand there is a certain allocation for time for every patient but I had not yet begun my time, and even if I had, this is no way to treat patients. A doctorâs office is a place where the patient should feel safe, comfortable and properly listened to, not a place where they are rushed and made to feel like a burden.
I hope you take this complaint seriously and into consideration. I took the time to write it because this is the first time ever that Iâve felt worse after a GP visit."
