"Yesterday I rang to arrange an asthma appointment as it is beginning to flare up. The surgery booked me in with a nurse practitioner. After being checked over I was informed that the nurse didnât know what to recommend and needed to ask the specialist asthmaâs nurse for advice. She sent him a message and called twice but did not receive a response. She then explained that she didnât know what best to advise and so I should go home and she would call me regarding a new inhaler/ medication recommendation. I awaited a phone call as my appointment was at 4:45pm but did not hear anything. At 5:50pm I rang the surgery and asked the reception team to see what was happening. The receptionist reported back that the nurse hadnât heard from the asthma nurse as heâd already left off and yet she hadnât contacted me back either. Her advice was, if it gets worse call 111 and that they will get back to me on Tuesday when this asthma nurse is back in. It should not have to fall to the receptionist to report on this as neither nurse had followed through with their responsibilities."
