ABOUT LOCAL GP - STAR LANE MEDICAL CENTRE

Welcome to Star Lane Medical Centre!

Our practice moved to its present purpose- built site in 2000. We comprise 8 doctors, 3 nurses and a supporting administration team.

Our aim is to provide a comprehensive, efficient and caring service in a friendly atmosphere, enhanced by our spacious environment. We offer a wide range of specialised clinics - from chronic disease to minor surgery - aimed at developing and improving primary health care in Newham. As a practice, we are keen to promote health education to help and encourage patients to improve or maintain their lifestyle.

Star Lane Medical Centre is a two-storey building with appropriate adaptations for disabled people. We welcome and embrace the diversity of our practice profile and always strive to offer the best possible service to all our patients.

Smoking is prohibited within the building and grounds of the surgery.

Dr Ko Ko Laing

Qualifications - DGM, MBBS, MRCGP

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

GMC Number - 6147727

General Practitioner

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Mr Phil Monnery

Qualifications - FRCS 1999, FRCSI 1995, MBBS, 1991, MRCGP 2012

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

GMC Number - 6160583

General Practitioner

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
