"I had an appointment today which I made using the on line system a month ago as it is impossible to get through on the phone in the morning and as I have recently had a knee replacement I cannot queue up outside the surgery for half an hour either. I received three text messages during the last week confirming my appointment so imagine my surprise when I arrived to be told that there was no record of my booking. I showed the receptionist the text messages but she just kept saying I could not be seen today. I am ashamed to say I got quite annoyed and insisted I be seen so she grudgingly said she would speak with her manager. When she came back she told me they had had a phone call from my mother that morning cancelling my appointment. I am 63 years old and my mother died in 1981 so I was furious. It was obvious that my appointment had been cancelled in error but I didn't receive an apology. I was eventually given my original appointment slot but had to make a fuss to do so.
I also object to being asked what is wrong with me by a non medical person in front of a full waiting room.
I have no complaints at all about the doctors and nurses who are all very helpful and professional but the appointment system is badly flawed and needs addressing urgently."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
