"I've been at this surgery for many years and have seen it go through some ups and downs. One of the doctors thre clearly wenththrough a patch oof not enjoying their work (not that that surprises me with the enormous pressures in the NHS) but this year I have found the support much better - the doctors are engaged and pleasant, treat me like an adult e.g. I can discuss with them tests that I would like etc, what I think might be going on. They recently caught a serious issue that I think has been brewing for years, by not accepting that my symptoms were just a virus and looking further into it, for which I am very grateful, and they have been great about the ongoing investigations and treatment. The nurses are competent and friendly, and never hurt me when taking bloods, which is definitely not the case at the hospital! I find the organisation of the surgery efficient and pleasant, making appointments very easy via the app, as is keeping track of my test results.

I would agree with another reviewer that they should perhaps review privacy procedures given the smallness if the waiting area and proximity of the receptionists to waiting patients."

Qualifications - DGM, MBBS, MRCGP

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
