"I had a GP appointment late last year and came out and cried my eyes out as I felt the person in question found me humorous rather than taking me seriously. Maybe they were having a bad day, as my appointments in the past have always been fine but that has been enough to put me off as I absolutely should not have been made to feel like this and neither should anyone else. Thereâs one receptionist who is absolutely lovely and always goes the extra mile. Some of the others, I feel, couldnât give you the time of day. I didnât like being asked by the receptionist what my appointment was for when Iâd said there was no rush for it......
It wasnât like it was an emergency so in my opinion was none of their business! Appointments are often running late. I do like the fact that gps will make phone calls to patients. I would find it difficult to complain for fear of getting a bad name within the practice and therefore finding it awkward to return."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
