"My wife and I have been in the hands of this practice since I retired (from working abroad for the previous 12 years or so) in 2002. Coming to the surgery is, despite the fact that we only come when we NEED to come, always a pleasure. We try to treat the staff and doctors personally and politely and they treat us likewise. The medical personnel are always happy to explain and discuss their recommendations/treatments or whatever and to give advice on what we can do to alleviate issues. This is iincreasingly important as we grow older!! The downside of growing older is that we are growing older. The upside is that we ARE growing older!!

I think it looks unlikely that we shall move out of the city centre until we are less capable of looking after ourselves on a day-to-day basis so I hope we will continue to enjoy such kind and welcoming service with you.

We do visit the surgery regularly for prescriptions, diabetes reviews, and of course, specific short term health issues so filling in 4 below seems irrelevant."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
